Makenna woke up yesterday morning with a slightly swollen eye lid. After some texting back and forth with my dear friend and go to person with health questions for my kiddos, Aimee, I decided we better take her into the clinic to see what was causing this swelling. At the time just the edge of her eyelid by her eye lashes was swollen. They seemed a little stumped and kept asking if she or anyone had been sick, but no one had been sick. They sent us on our way with an oral antibiotic.
The next morning she woke up like this...
She came crying to my room, early in the morning, and just laid there crying because it hurt so bad. I felt so bad for her.
So I decided it was time to go visit the eye doctor again (not again for her, but having been there a couple weeks ago with Denver). I have to say I come to really appreciate our eye doctor, he's absolutely amazing with our kids. Its so nice when a doctor can help make your child feel at ease when they aren't sure what to expect. He immediately said he was happy that she had been put on an oral antibiotic and explained to me that we have glands in our eye lids and it was infected. He saw some matteriness in her eye that had not been there the day before so he decided to also put us on a eye drop antibiotic, instructed me to keep putting a warm cloth or compress on it, and assured me we were at its worst as she had been laying down (sleeping) which didn't help and the antibiotic hadn't had enough time to make a difference.
