More Christmas Pictures

The three of us enjoyed our day at home on Christmas day. We all had several naps! Denver slept quite a bit during the day which proves he was as worn out as Mommy and Daddy!

Denver spent time playing on the floor, swinging, and attempting to jump in his new jumperoo. Jumperoo's can be dangerous...ask Daddy! ;) (When Daddy was putting his jumperoo together he wasn't patient for the instructions and had to pull a piece apart which he ended up pulling the piece into his chin and gave himself a pretty deep cut from it...but he's okay now!)

Since we were at home Denver got to have his bedtime routine again. This consists of a bath between 6:30 and 8p.m. and then time to kick and play on the floor. After he's done playing on the floor he usually eats and then is out like a light! We need to get a book in there yet, but we'll get it figured out soon enough.

I included bath time pictures to show you how big he's gotten from his first bath at home! Sometimes we even take the sling out after he's done getting cleaned up and let him play a little (we have to hold him up yet while he plays though).

This post will probably be my longest ever because I have a ton more pictures that I want to share with everyone.

On Christmas Eve we switched Denver's medication to Prevacid. He was still fussy after feedings and was struggling going to sleep at times because he was so miserable. Tomorrow we should be able to tell if it's helping more than the Zantac was, but I think I can tell a difference already. He slept a little over 7 hours last night! It was amazing. Not only did he sleep 7 hours, but when he got up at 7 this morning he ate and went back to sleep until I woke him up to eat at 11:30 (I gave him his medicine when he was sleeping...he took it like such a big boy and just kept sleeping! The only bad thing about this medicine is that it has to be 30 minutes before his feeding so we have to be creative so he doesn't have to be mad very long about not getting to eat). Other than Denver's reflux he is doing awesome. He's getting so big; he is even outgrowing some of his 0-3 month sleepers due to his big feet (they fit him everywhere, but his little toes are smashed in the feet).

We hope everyone had a good Christmas as well and hope you all have a great new year! We are excited for what this new year will bring!

Denver's first Christmas

Denver had a very busy first Christmas. Our Christmas gatherings began on the 14th, we had another on the 16th, and for the past 5 days we've been running to the rest of them. Today we are spending Christmas at home with just the 3 of us. It is a much needed break from all the running around. We are all happy to be home and spending time with each other. I'm sure there will be many more pictures before the day is over, but here are a few.

A new family picture of us on Christmas Eve. Mommy was excited that Denver's Christmas outfit fit as good as it did as we were afraid he'd be swimming in it

Mommy and Daddy's best Christmas present came early this year and we love him so very much!

Denver got Daddy a Minnesota Twins backpack to use as a diaper bag so they can look "cool" when they go out together just the 2 of them!

"Getting Big"

Denver is getting big. He weighed 8lbs. 10oz. at the clinic today. Denver had a follow-up Dr's appt. for his acid reflux. After discussing things with Dr. McKercher we decided to increase his Zantac to 3 times a day and we were able to get it grape flavored! Daddy thinks that the grape flavor is worse though, so we'll see if Denver indicates a prefernce. We are slowly getting used to having an infant. I think we have both been surprised about the amount of time it takes to get ready to go some where and how stressful parenthood can be at times. Denver has been to 2 family Christmas gatherings already.

Daddy was super excited to find out that Denver's "Bobcat outfit" fit. Be ready Bobcats your newest, biggest fan will be sporting your school colors for your next game!

Denver loves to play on the floor and kick around. Recently he has enjoyed laying on his boppy like this and then pushing off with his legs so he about tips over. It's very cute to watch. He is getting very strong with his head and does awesome turning it back and forth during tummy time and when he's being held. We are getting squirmier every day and now when he's being held he has to look all around to make sure he sees everything going on!

Mommy loves her baby boy and can't imagine a minute without him! The rest of my maternity leave better go slow as I am going to struggle leaving him.

Almost forgot...we are sleeping in our crib again and doing quite well. We had 2 nights where he slept about 6 hours straight. I woke up several times wondering if he was okay, but reassured myself without having to go check on him and eventually fell back asleep. Other than those 2 nights he's usually up around 3a.m. and several times if not at least close to half of the time he's big eyed and wants to play and be held.

Denver + Zantac + Carseat = Good Nights Sleep!!

Now that Denver has been on his Zantac for about 5 days we have gotten 2 good nights sleep (granted we did decide to try putting him in his carseat for the night as many people told us to try...I do plan on trying the crib again tonight though in hopes that the Zantac has done its job and we won't have to go through the process of weaning from the carseat to the crib). Denver gets his Zantac twice a day and it's peppermint flavored....he did awesome with it the first couple times, but a couple days ago he decided the flavor was too strong and then learned he can spit it out! I'm hoping I can get the pharmacy to do a different flavor next time we get it filled.

Denver did well at his first basketball game last Friday. Daddy was concerned it was too loud in the gym so Denver spent most of his time out in the lobby with Grandma Verni. Denver got to meet lots of people and even some distant cousins!

Last night Mommy and Daddy had their first night out; just the 2 of us. Grandma Verni came to stay with Denver and sounds like they had a good time. We went to the Augie vs USF basketball game and when the game was over Daddy was ready to run out of there to go see his boy (Mommy was ready to go see him too, but enjoyed the time out of the house!).

Mommy played dress up this morning with Denver. We had gotten this red sleeper for Denver to wear to Christmas gatherings and since those start this weekend I figured we better try it on and see how it fits.

Evan's boss and his wife gave us some money to go buy clothes for Denver, so silly us went shopping at the mall on Saturday (it was crazy busy!). These jeans go with a shirt and hat that we got for him, but I knew the shirt would be too big yet, but wanted to try to the jeans...still a little big, but super cute! :)

Sleep?

Lately, sleep has become a bit unknown in our house. Denver had a doctor's appointment yesterday and was diagnosed with reflux. His original appointment was for today, but Wednesday night mommy got about 2-3 hours of sleep and dealt with a screaming baby most of the night so she said this is enough, we're going to try and get into the clinic today instead. Dr. McKercher started Denver on Zantac twice a day and told us to elevate the head of his bed. It will take a couple days of the Zantac before we'll see a difference, but we're hoping this will do the trick! Other than Denver's reflux he is doing very well. He was 7lbs 15oz in the clinic. Denver loves to eat and when he gets a bottle from Daddy he typically takes 4oz, but has taken up to 5oz! He is getting strong and is doing really well with moving his head around and holding it up by himself. Denver is also starting to enjoy bath time more and more every day. Daddy and Denver do bath time and it's a great bonding time for the two of them. Tonight Denver gets to go to his first basketball game (he gets to watch his cousins Drew and Ethan play).

Mommy had a picture taking day at the beginning of the week. He tolerated my positioning and flash quite well, but by the end he was hungry and sick of it!

More Pictures of our Baby Boy

Things continue to go well in the Kindt household, although I must admit, we're all pretty tired! Last night we were all in bed by 9 p.m.; today we feel much better. My mom has been here to help out several different days which has helped tremendously. Between her and some other family and friends we've had lots of good home cooked meals. I used to think laundry was never ending, but now have learned that it wasn't bad before. Denver seems to pee or poop through at least one outfit a day. One night it took til the 3rd sleeper after our bath to finally be able to wear a clean, dry outfit to bed.

This family picture was taken at one of our Thanksgiving gatherings.

Denver is always a happy boy AFTER his bath in the evening.

Denver likes to lay on the floor and look around. He loves looking at the lights.

Boppy time!

1st Doctor's Appointment

We had our first doctor's appointment on Friday. Denver's pediatrician is Dr. McKercher (Dr. McKercher was also daddy's pediatrician, and we go to Church with him). When we were at the clinic Denver was a very good boy and only cried a little when we stripped him naked to weigh and measure him. He weighed 7 lbs. 1 oz., so he's above birth weight; which doesn't always happen in 6 days! His length on the other hand was down to 20 inches instead of 20.5, so not sure if the hospital or the clinic measured right. :) Since he's doing so well with everything Dr. McKercher said we don't have to go back for 2 weeks. Mommy is still doing good and so is Daddy, although we're both pretty tired. The nights are going better than the first two. Daddy usually gives him a bottle between 11pm and 2am and then I get up a nurse him around 3-4am and then he's usually up around 6a.m. and then will go back down for a little while again. He's been more alert during the days and easier to keep up so he sleeps better at night, but today we had a sleepy day so we'll see how it goes tonight. Thank you for all your continued thoughts and prayers!

Bath Time Fun

We had our first bath at home last night. Denver didn't quite know what to think. At first he didn't mind too much, but then got mad. Although it was then that he realized how hungry he was as he had slept for 4 hours straight, and we used this to help wake him up so he'd eat better.

Our Bundle of Joy

Here are a couple of pictures of our precious baby boy.

This picture was taken back in the operating room after my c-section. Denver came out screaming and then after about a minute stopped and just stared at his Daddy. Daddy loved every minute of it.

Here we are up in our room, the morning after he was born.
Now we are home and doing well. Our first night was a little interesting as the little guy didn't want to sleep. I think it's because Daddy didn't quite have the thermastat set correctly, it was kind of cold. Mommy caved on her rule the first night and let Denver sleep on her chest for 2 hours so we all could get a little sleep. Well, I need to keep moving, thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. We are so happy to have our happy, healthy baby boy at home (and for Thanksgiving might I add...God is good!).

Denver John Kindt

Believe it or not he's here! Denver John was born Saturday, November 17 at 1:27p.m. by cesarean section after Mommy labored for about 20 hours. He weighed in at 7lbs 0oz. Denver did not want to turn his head to come meet this world, so he was delievered by c-section. We just got home today and are very tired and going to try to go to bed, but wanted to put a quick post up. For some reason it's not letting me add a picture now so hopefully tomorrow I can get some posted, until then visit www.sanfordhealth.org and go to Cradle Roll.

The Waiting Game

Well, we're to the waiting game. We're 38 weeks on Thursday and getting very anxious, not to mention that I'm getting more and more uncomfortable. This little guy keeps growing and stretching my skin to the point I have a numb spot on the middle of my tummy. Things are slowly progressing so this little guy can enter the world, but we're not quite there yet. His nursery is finally done (minus some minor paint touch ups and things).

I gave Evan the job of picking out a life verse for our little guy, little did I know that would mean he'd be sending me a text message during the middle of Church because he liked the scripture that Pastor Tom was using for his sermon and I was at work (he was worried he'd forget the passage and didn't have anything to write it down with and it's not in the bulletin)! Believe it or not I loved the verse and thought it was great. He picked Proverbs 3:1-6. I specially ordered Proverbs 3:5-6 (too expensive to do the whole thing) from Uppercase Living and was very happy with our results (thanks to lots of time of Aunt Kim's help in designing it)!

We have another doctor's appointment on Friday, and then our last scheduled appointment is the Monday after Thanksgiving. Hopefully by then he will be here and we won't have to schedule anymore, but I guess only time will tell. Remembers lots of prayers so I don't have to work Wednesday, Thursday (Thanksgiving), Saturday, and Sunday with less than a week of my due date!

Happy Halloween

Evan and I had fun one night and Evan painted my tummy like a pumpkin. We couldn't find face paint anywhere though so we had to use finger paint which made it a little more challenging. I had another doctor's appointment today and every thing continues to be perfect. She checked to see if I had started dilating and/or effacing and so far nothing is happening, but that's okay, we still have 4 weeks til the due date. She reassured me that she had her babies at 39 1/2 weeks and didn't start doing anything ahead of time so it's still possible for him to come a little early. Evan continues to tell everyone that he's coming on the 24th, but I'm not holding my breath...I'll be happy if we are here on our due date, but am trying to prepare myself for a December baby. Well, that's all I have for an update now. Hope all is well with each and every one of you and thanks for all the thoughts and prayers as we prepare for our little one's birth.
